Before this Saturday’s matchup, Notre Dame had lost three of its last six games against the Navy Midshipmen. And midway through the game, it looked like another loss was certainly possible, as the Fighting Irish trailed 20-17.
In the locker room at halftime, Brian Kelly decided it was time for another one of his fiery speeches. He told his players that they weren’t physical enough, that they needed to “physically whip” Navy in the second half if they were going to win, and that the offense was going to have to carry the day:
Obviously, the players took the message to heart, and Notre Dame ended up with a 38-34 win, moving to 7-2 on the season. Another speech well-done by Brian Kelly.
