Texas A&M’s Kyle Allen, After Losing QB Competition: “Don’t Count Me Out Yet”
The battle to be Texas A&M’s opening day starting quarterback may officially be over, but that doesn’t mean that the man who lost is going to give up hope on perhaps someday supplanting his competition. Saturday, Aggies head coach Kevin Sumlin announced that sophomore signal-caller Kenny Hill would be the team’s starting quarterback to begin the season. Soon after, freshman Kyle Allen, a five-star recruit from Arizona, took to Twitter to let fans know what they shouldn’t count him out just yet.

There were reports earlier in the week that Sumlin said the race between the two players was “dead even” – so his decision to go with Hill over Allen must have been a difficult one to make. In reality, Allen’s attitude should excite fans – it should push Hill to work on his game. Having a capable backup is also a huge asset for a program.
