Texas A&M Dismisses Darian Claiborne, Isaiah Golden From Football Team

Update 2: According to the College Station Police Department, Claiborne and Golden are accused of producing a handgun during the alleged robbery, which reportedly involved a marijuana purchase. Both were arrested, without incident, and are currently being held on $120,000 bail, each.

Investigation at the scene found that the three victims had entered into an agreement to purchase a quantity of marijuana from the suspects. When the suspects arrived at the apartment to complete the transaction, one of the suspects produced a handgun, pointed it at one of the victims while the other suspect took the money that was present to purchase the marijuana. While this was occurring, one of the victims stood up from the couch and was struck in the face by the suspect with the handgun. The suspects then fled the area on foot and the victims notified police.

Update: According to The Eagle, both players were arrested today on three charges of aggravated robbery from an incident two weeks ago. Given their previous issues, Sumlin wasted no time in booting them from the program.

Earlier: Texas A&M was already going to have a difficult time living up to high expectations after losing former stars Johnny Manziel, Jake Matthews and Mike Evans to the NFL. Tuesday afternoon, we learned that the Aggies are also losing two more players, but for a much different reason.

Kevin Sumlin announced Wednesday that sophomore linebacker Darian Claiborne and sophomore defensive lineman Isaiah Golden have been dismissed from the Aggies football program for exhibiting a “pattern of behavior” that the school will not tolerate. Both players were potential starters heading into the 2014 campaign.

“These two individuals have failed to meet the high expectations and standards that we have for our football players and as representatives of this university. These two players have exhibited a pattern of behavior that we will not tolerate at Texas A&M.”

Darian and Claiborne had a run-in with the law back in February and were suspended indefinitely at the time. It is not known if any new incidents led to their dismissals.
