Report: Johnny Manziel Was Kicked Out Of The Manning Passing Academy
Update: ESPN has released a report this afternoon that reads that Manziel did miss meetings/practice and leave the camp early, but that it was due to the quarterback “feeling ill”. Here’s the statement a camp spokesman gave the Worldwide Leader:
“Johnny Manziel did participate in some activities in the 2013 Manning Passing Academy as a college counselor/coach,” the statement said. “After missing and being late for practice assignments, Johnny explained that he had been feeling ill. Consequently, we agreed that it was in everyone’s best interest for him to go home a day early.”
We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
Earlier: This past Friday, we showed you a photo of Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron and Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel enjoying themselves at a local bar near the Manning Passing Academy. Well, as rumorsandrants.com is reporting, Johnny Football may have taken his antics a little too far the next night.
Our boots on the ground in Thibodaux, La. — believe it or not, we have them — informed us that Johnny Manziel was sent home from the Manning Passing Academy on Saturday afternoon by Archie Manning himself. Our source, who wishes to remain anonymous because of his connection to the camp, gave us the scoop after Manziel showed up tardy Saturday afternoon after being out on the town Friday night. The Texas A&M star reportedly enjoyed himself a little too much Friday night and rolled back into the camp at Nicholls State University some time around noon Saturday before getting the boot.
If true, this is a terrible look for Manziel. The Manning family is one of the most respected in professional sports.
Manziel, last year’s Heisman Trophy winner, has frequently been in the news this off-season. Thankfully, we’ve only got just over a month before we actually get to see him on the field.
