Tennessee’s 2014 Basketball Recruits Tweet About The Cuonzo Martin Move, Their Future

Perhaps the people most impacted by Cuonzo Martin’s abrupt move from Tennessee to Cal are the recruits in UT’s 2014 recruiting class. The Vols already lost their most recent commit to Martin and the Golden Bears with the defection of Kingsley Okoroh, who had just verballed to Tennessee yesterday.

Athletic Director Dave Hart said that he anticipates the other four commits to come to Knoxville, but there is definitely some uncertainty among this group based on their tweets and reactions to the news.

Center C.J. Turman reached out to Tennessee junior guard Josh Richardson to ask his advice moving forward, and if they should go through with enrolling at UT. Richardson did not exactly jump out of his seat to tell Turman to stay with the Vols.

Two-star guard Justin Cornish and three-star forward Phil Cofer both tweeted for anyone looking for information to contact their parents. Cofer has retweeted a number of supportive Tennessee fans, but also an Indiana fan who wants he and Turman to switch their commitments to the Hoosiers.

The final member of the class, three-star point guard Larry Austin, has not tweeted since the Martin news came out, and declined to give a comment according to the Knoxville News Sentinel’s Ben Frederickson.

Tennessee needs to make a big hire here, or they definitely run the risk of losing recruits, and potentially veteran players to transfer.
