Report: Tennessee’s New Basketball Coach Will Be Donnie Tyndall

Six days ago, Tennessee fans learned that head basketball coach Cuonzo Martin would be leaving the school for California after taking the Vols to the Sweet 16 this past season. The school, surprisingly, has already replaced him. Southern Miss head coach Donnie Tyndall will bolt the Eagles for UT, according to Gary Parrish of CBS Sports.

According to Jeff Goodman of ESPN, Tennessee had been turned down by Louisiana Tech’s Mike White earlier in the day.

Tyndall coached Southern Miss for two seasons, taking the program to the quarterfinals of the NIT both years. In six years at Morehead State, he reached the NCAA Tournament twice. Tyndall has a career mark of 200-106.
