Butch Jones Announces Justin Worley As Tennessee’s Starting Quarterback

With a few weeks until kickoff against Utah State, Tennessee coach Butch Jones has named senior Justin Worley as his starting quarterback. Worley played in eight games last season, throwing for 1,239 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Worley beat out Joshua Dobbs and Nathan Peterman for the job, although Jones expects both to continue to compete for the back-up job, and to push Worley.

Tennessee’s schedule is pretty tough early on. Utah State and Arkansas State are both bowl-caliber teams, and after those two, the Vols have Big 12 favorite Oklahoma, and SEC East power Georgia. Having a senior under center may help the team make it through that difficult first third of the season.
