Spurrier On Giving Back To South Carolina: “This Is My School Now”

Depending on how Steve Spurrier’s career at South Carolina winds up, many may still view him as a Florida legend first. He did, of course, win a Heisman Trophy as Gators quarterback and a National Championship as coach in Gainesville. However, in Spurrier’s mind, his current school South Carolina is “his school,” and not his alma mater. He made that quite evident with $1 million in donations back to the USC athletic department.

Of course, Spurrier still has time to add to his already impressive legacy on the field as well.

If he can bring home an SEC title or a National Championship to Columbia, he will almost definitely be the most revered person in Gamecocks history. He’s might be that already, for turning USC into an annual contender in the toughest conference in the sport.
