South Carolina Coach Frank Martin Apologizes For His “Ignorant Actions”

This past Saturday, South Carolina basketball coach Frank Martin was caught on camera dropping a few choice words on his freshman guard Duane Notice – as you’d imagine, the clip made the rounds online, prompting the Gamecocks brass to eventually suspend him for the team’s upcoming game against Mississippi State. Friday, Martin held a press conference to apologize for his “ignorant’ actions and admit that he needs help controlling his anger.

While Martin’s hard-nosed, over-the-top style may have been prevalent with previous generations of coaches, the sports world has been moving away from that kind of teaching for years now. He’s probably either going to have to adapt or find a new career – just ask Bob Knight.
