The Incredible 49-Yard Punt Return By Ace Sanders That Made Mizzou Fans Cry

It was a tough day yesterday for the Mizzou Tigers, made tougher by an incredible, 49-yard play in the 2nd quarter by South Carolina’s Ace Sanders.
After a quick 3 and out from inside its own 5 on an ensuing possession, any momentum the Tigers had built up was stolen by the 5’9″ flash of red jersey and black dreadlocks.
Sanders caught Trey Barrow’s punt at the Gamecock’s 45 yard line with about 5 yards of room to work with. In a matter of seconds — and without leaving the hashmarks — Sanders side-stepped the contain of Kip Edwards, slipped through a lazy Brad Madison arm tackle, and bounced off a blocking teammate.
And he didn’t stop there.
Seemingly unfazed by the temporary set-back, Sanders then shot between Donovan Bonner and Markus Golden before running into Kip Edwards yet again. Edwards attempted unsuccessfully to yank at the football like the pull cord of a lawn mower, and it was a jailbreak from there.
After side stepping Jimmy Burge it was off to the races for Ace Sanders. This man must run a 4.3 40-yard dash.
Luckily, reserve running back and speedster extraordinaire (NOT) Jared McGriff-Culver was able to corner Sanders and force him out of bounds at the 4 yard line.
Though the play didn’t result in any points for the Gamecocks, it did represent a massive turning point in momentum away from Mizzou; one that the Tigers were unable to recover for the rest in the game.
As a Mizzou fan, it’s hard to admit it, but Sanders looked like a God. Here’s the clip:
