Mizzou Basketball Notes: Recruiting and SEC Media Picks

The Missouri basketball team picked up its second commitment in four days when Torren Jones verbally picked the Tigers on Sunday. 

Jones is a 6-foot-8 power forward from La Porte, Indiana. He is a three-start prospect of Rivals and ranked 115th overall in the class of 2013. Jones visited Columbia over the weekend and committed the next day. 

Head coach Frank Haith has assembled a solid four player recruiting class for 2013. All four are in the Rivals Top 150 that was updated last Thursday. Four-star forward Johnathan Williams III announced he will play for Mizzou last week in an announcement at his Memphis high school. Four-star point guard Wesley Clark committed at the end of August. Clark hails from Romulus, Mich., which is in the Detroit suburbs. Three-star point guard Travis Jorgenson pledged to play for the Tigers over an year ago. Jorgenson played at Rock Bridge High School in Columbia, Mo. last season and will be playing at New Hampshire Prep for his senior year. 

Pressey Named Preseason SEC Player of Year by Media

The SEC media predictions were announced on Monday. Point guard Phil Pressey was named preseason player of the year. Pressey is the only Mizzou play on the first team All-SEC squad. Tigers guard Michael Dixon was named second team All-SEC.

The Tigers are picked to finish third behind Kentucky and Florida this season.
