Coach Gary Pinkel announced today that running back Henry Josey will not play this 2012 season due to the season ending injury he incurred near the end of the 2011 season, according to KFVS.
Josey recieved playing time his true freshman season in 2010, exciting Mizzou fans with his speed and elusiveness. His play that season put him into the running back rotation last season in 2011, where he earned the starting job after an outstanding 263 yard performance against Western Illinois. Josey continued to produce all throughout 2011 until the game against Texas, where he tore both his ACL and MCL on the same play.
Josey and Pinkel were both hopeful that the running back could return this season but it looks like it just isn’t in the picture. Josey underwent succesful surgeries to fix his injuries and is now running again, but he simply won’t be ready until the 2013 season.
With Josey out due to injury, Kendial Lawrence, Marcus Murphy, and true freshman running back Russell Hansbrough will get most of the reps this season.
