ESPN’s Jesse Palmer: “Mississippi State Could Win The SEC West” “Dak Prescott Is Heisman Darkhorse”

Since 2007, only three teams have represented the SEC West in the conference’s championship game: Alabama (3), Auburn (2), and LSU (2). Go back to 1999 and that number only increases to four teams, with Arkansas making two title game appearances during the 21st century.

One ESPN analyst thinks the SEC West could be won by a different team this fall, however. Mississippi State last represented its side of the conference in the title game in 1998, when the Bulldogs fell to No. 1 Tennessee, 24-14.

Palmer isn’t saying Mississippi State will win the SEC West, he’s just saying it’s possible. Still, it’s incredibly difficult to imagine anyone outside of Alabama, Auburn, and LSU winning its side of the conference.

Dak Prescott winning the Heisman seems to be as big of a stretch. The rising junior quarterback threw for 1940 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2013 while running for 829 yards and 13 scores. Mississippi State has never had a player win college football’s most prestigious award.
