Kentucky’s Coach Cal Not Ruling Out Starting 5 Freshmen

Coach Cal’s 2013 recruiting class may not have the same kind of clever nickname as Michigan’s “Fab Five” had, but they may wind up accomplishing many of the same feats as their predecessors. Kentucky’s 2013 class is comprised of six of the top 100 prospects in the country, five of whom – Julius Randle, Andrew Harrison, Aaron Harrison, Dakari Johnson and James Young – are ranked in the top ten, according to ESPN. Today, Calipari dropped a very interesting quote, when asked whether they’ll all be playing together on the court. Via WKYT’s Lee Howard:

Yes, Calipari says it’s unlikely, but no, he’s not ruling it out. For the record, former Michigan coach Steve Fisher didn’t start five freshmen – Chris Webber, Jalen Rose, Juwan Howard, Jimmy King and Ray Jackson – until February 9th, 1992 against Notre Dame.

We all know that Coach Cal loves to make history – would he possibly do it before conference play and become the coach earliest to do it in a season?
