John Calipari Renames “1-And-Done” As “Succeed And Proceed”

Kentucky coach John Calipari has long been outspoken against the phrase “one-and-done” – he feels that it puts a negative connotation on the concept of players leaving school early to pursue their dreams of playing NBA basketball. Today, one day before his Wildcats take the floor against Wisconsin in this year’s Final Four, Coach Cal unveiled a new phrase that he wants people to start using instead.

He’s certainly right – whether it’s actually Kentucky or knock-off brands that wind up producing the clothing, it will exist soon. As for the name choice, you can certainly argue that what UK’s freshmen have accomplished this season should be considered success. But I’m not sure that every college player that has left early for the NBA could say the same.
