It turns out that the third time wasn’t quite the charm for Kentucky against Florida. The Wildcats had the No. 1 ranked Gators on the ropes in the SEC Tournament title game Sunday afternoon, but couldn’t get the final basket needed to escape with victory. On the Wildcats’ last possession, freshman James Young slipped on a drive to the basket, losing the ball in the process.
Neither team could gather the ball before the game clock expired, so UF survived for a 61-60 victory.
Florida is expected to be the No. 1 overall seed when the NCAA Tournament brackets are announced later this hour. Kentucky is expected to be a 6-seed or a 7-seed by most analysts.
