The nightmare season in Gainesville continued Saturday for Florida, as the Gators fell to FCS program Georgia Southern, 26-20, at home in what was supposed to be a tuneup before the Florida State game. Despite the devastating loss, which guarantees that Florida will miss out on the postseason, coach Will Muschamp will not be fired, according to a report released today by the Orlando Sentinel.

The University of Florida has no plans to fire Will Muschamp, even after a monumental loss to Georgia Southern, a source close to the program told The Sentinel on Sunday.

However, significant changes to Muschamp’s coaching staff are expected after Saturday’s season finale against Florida State.

Whether the eventual changes will satisfy fans remains to be seen. It’s important to remember that Florida is coming off of an 11-2 season in 2012, so it’s not as-if the program has been “down” for years. Still, it’s not a stretch to assume that UF probably needs to get off to a solid start in 2014 for Muschamp to keep his job.
