Louisville’s Rick Pitino Says Florida’s Billy Donovan, Hands Down, Is The Best Coach In College Basketball

Who’s the best coach in college basketball?

According to ESPN, it’s Billy Donovan. For roughly the past month, ESPN.com has been ranking the top 50 coaches in college basketball. Last week, it revealed the top of its ranking, which had Florida’s Donovan at No. 1 and Kentucky’s John Calipari at No. 2.

Rick Pitino agrees with ESPN. The Louisville coach says he would have voted for Donovan at No. 1, too.

Pitino might be a tad biased. Donovan played for Pitino at Providence and coached under him at Kentucky from 1989-93.

Still, it’s high praise from the 2013 national champion coach, and it’s hard to argue with ESPN’s rankings. At Florida, Donovan has won two national titles and made four straight Elite Eights.

Pitino ranked No. 5 in ESPN’s rankings.
