Bret Bielema And Arkansas Reached Out To The Wrong Jamaal Anderson For Alumni Relationship Building
Arkansas Razorbacks head coach Bret Bielema is having a tough week. First, it was released that Ohio State President Gordon Gee insinuated that Bielema’s former Athletic Director at Wisconsin, Barry Alvarez, thought Bielema was a “thug”. Now, it appears either he or someone on his staff might have made a little mistake doing some relationship building with Arkansas alumni.
Former Atlanta Falcons running back Jamal Anderson, famous for the “dirty bird” celebration the team used during its run to the Super Bowl in 1999, tweeted out a picture of an email he received from someone on Bielema’s staff. The note referred to Anderson as an alumni, stating that the program’s goal is to keep close relationships with former Razorbacks in the NFL.
Except, Anderson played for Utah in college. It’s Jamaal Anderson, a defensive end for the Cincinnati Bengals, who attended Arkansas. Yikes.
Here’s the tweet in all of its glory.
Credit Bielema for the gesture. But, wrong Jamal. Wonder is coach will still send the jersey? Ha. twitter.com/jamthedirtybir…

While not nearly as damaging as the general ineptitude Rutgers has been displaying recently, this one is certainly embarrassing. You can’t expect recruits to come play for you if you can’t even differentiate which players in the NFL came from your own program.
