Lane Kiffin Says Alabama’s Running Back Trio “Probably” More Talented Than Any In The Entire NFL

It’s no secret that during the Nick Saban era in Tuscaloosa, Alabama has had one of the best rushing attacks in the country, year after year. The Crimson Tide have sent three running backs (Mark Ingram, Trent Richardson, Eddie Lacy) to the league in the past four NFL drafts and it certainly would shock nobody if more were on the horizon. But new offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin, who was hired by Saban after being fired as head coach at USC last year, seems to really think Alabama has a special group at the position this year.

He told reporters Thursday night at the DEX Imaging Football Preview for L’Arche Mobile that he believes that the current trio – T.J. Yeldon, Derrick Henry and Kenyan Drake – “probably” has more talent than any trio of running backs in the NFL. He also praised Henry’s size and speed.

Considering the NFL is a collection of all of the best college players from around the entire country, not just at Alabama, we’re going to disagree with Kiffin here. That being said, they certainly may have the best trio in college football – a much more fair statement. It looks as if Kiffin hasn’t given up his brash ways quite yet.
