Former Auburn Coach Gene Chizik Thinks The Tigers Will Go 10-2 In 2014, Lose To…

It’s still hard to believe that the head coach of the 2010 BCS National Champion Auburn Tigers – Gene Chizik – no longer has a job in the industry. Regardless, the former AU head man still keeps him relevant to the sport, as he’s one of the hosts on SiriusXM’s College Sports Today show. Wednesday, he gave some predictions on how he thinks his former employer will fare this year. While he predicted double-digit wins for the Tigers, he also picked against them in the most important game of them all.

According to 247 Sports, Chizik claimed that South Carolina is “loaded” and that home field will matter greatly for the Iron Bowl.

“That’s almost one of those 50-50 deals. If the game was at Auburn, I would pick Auburn.”

If Chizik is right, Auburn probably doesn’t reach the SEC title game. The Tigers would sit at 6-2 with a loss to Alabama as a potential tiebreaker. Unless they found themselves fortunate in a three-way tie or the rest of the teams in the SEC West had three losses each, it’s unlikely they’d have a chance at the College Football Playoff. But hey, this is just what Gene Chizik thinks.

It’s certainly a bit odd to hear a former Auburn coach pick against the Tigers in the next Iron Bowl. What say you, Auburn fans?
