Update: Alabama WR Kenny Bell Announces He’s Back On The Team Via Twitter

Update: Well, that was fast. Kenny Bell just tweeted that he’s back on the team.

Coach Nick Saban also confirmed that Bell is staying on the team, according to USA Today:

“Sometimes we have personal things that we need to get ironed out. He had a day today to do that. I want Kenny to be happy. I’d love for him to be a part of the team if he can be happy doing that relative to any other personal responsibilities he has.”

Moving along…

Earlier: Senior wide receiver Kenny Bell has announced today via Twitter that he’s calling it quits on his career at Alabama. Bell’s reasoning? He claims he needs to focus on his kids. Check it out:

Bell, who was slated as the starting slot receiver on the team’s depth chart, caught 17 balls each of the past two seasons for the Tide, scoring a total of five touchdowns. Although Bell’s departure is a shot to the Tide offense, it will give guys like sophomore DeAndrew White, junior Christion Jones and freshman Robert Foster a chance to shine.

If any position group could afford to lose a solid player, it was the receiving core. Alabama’s offense shouldn’t hurt too much with Bell’s decision.
