Alabama QB Commit Blake Barnett Named ‘Elite 11’ MVP

Alabama fans, given the hype, are excited for the Jacob Coker era to officially begin in Tuscaloosa. But it’s starting to look like the Blake Barnett era may have even more promise. Barnett, a 2015 recruit from California who decommitted from Notre Dame last month before deciding to play for Alabama instead, impressed greatly at this week’s ‘Elite 11’ camp in Beaverton, Oregon. In fact, he wound up winning the event’s MVP award.

Barnett, who led his squad “Team Apocalypse” to a 19-0 victory over “Team Land Sharks” Thursday afternoon in the 7v7 title game of “The Opening”, beat out 17 other quarterbacks to win the award. Ironically, one of the quarterbacks on the other team was Ricky Town, who decommitted from the Tide earlier this year.

Despite losing AJ McCarron to the NFL this past offseason, Alabama still appears to be set for years at the quarterback position.
