A.J. McCarron Says He Believes He “Is The Best Player In The Nation”
A.J. McCarron has always come across as a pretty humble guy. Today at SEC Media Days, he repeatedly stated how he is very proud that he’s never brought shame on his family name and his school, and he wants his Alabama legacy to be that he was a guy “who did things the right way.” Additionally, McCarron indicated last night that he’d rather be at home preparing for next season than appearing at awards shows such as the ESPYs — he’s just not about individual attention.
A.J. McCarron says he turned down tons of appearances in offseason. “My job is playing football, not being a celebrity off the field.”

However, he did make a pretty bold statement this afternoon. Not only does he think his team is the best in the nation (tough to argue), but he also believes that he is the best player in the nation:
McCarron: I’m always confident. I think I’m the best player in the country on that field. That is going to be a fun offense to watch this yr

A.J. McCarron is the best player in college football. He has 25 wins, 2 losses, 3 BCS National Championships under his belt. #Heisman

McCarron has often been described as a “game manager” throughout his career, but his resume is getting awfully impressive. Most people won’t agree that he’s the best player in the nation, but he may be the most accomplished right now.
Also interesting to note is that the SEC media voters didn’t even vote him as the best quarterback in the conference for the upcoming season.
