USC’s Enfield Slams UCLA’s Alford: “I’ve Made It To One Sweet 16 In Two Years, He’s Made It To One Sweet 16 In 18 Years”
If there’s one thing that USC’s new head basketball coach Andy Enfield has nailed so far in his first few months with the school, it’s his trolling of UCLA. Enfield, to say the least, isn’t shy, and believes that he can turn USC into a powerhouse on the hardwood that can compete with anybody — particularly crosstown rival UCLA.
Recently, at a luncheon of USC boosters, Enfield talked about how he’s not worried about UCLA, or the Bruins’ new coach, Steve Alford. He, as usual, was quite bold:
“I don’t worry about them. I’ve made it to one Sweet Sixteen in two years, and he’s made it to one Sweet Sixteen in 18 years.”
It’s true that Steve Alford doesn’t have the best NCAA Tournament resume to date, and Enfield clearly made his big splash right away with FGCU last season. It will be interesting to see how the coaches fare in their new roles, though — most would argue that Alford has a bit more to work with now.
