Oregon’s De’Anthony Thomas: “We Already Won A Rose Bowl, It’s Whatever”

Oregon’s devastating loss to Stanford two weeks ago put the Cardinal in the driver’s seat to represent the Pac-12 North in the conference’s championship game. The Ducks seemingly went from ranked No. 2 in the BCS standings to possibly missing out on playing in any of the BCS bowl games.

But in one of the more memorable results from this past Saturday, USC did the Ducks a favor and knocked off Stanford, giving the Cardinal two losses on the season. The result, coupled with Oregon’s win over Utah, gives the Ducks a one-game lead in the division and the ability to control their own destiny towards a potential Rose Bowl berth.

But if you ask Oregon running back De’Anthony Thomas, he’s not all that excited to hear the news. Thomas made it clear that he thinks the Ducks have underachieved this season and that the idea of playing in another Rose Bowl isn’t very exciting.

It’s certainly an interesting quote, and there are going to be two different schools of thought here. Some will say that Thomas has the right attitude, because he and his team should be aspiring to only “accept” playing for a national championship. Others will say that Thomas is taking his situation for granted and that he should be honored to play in a game with such historical significance.
