We’ve had a ton of videos of coaches awarding walk-ons scholarships over the last few weeks, and they’re always great, but Arizona State really stepped it up today. The Sun Devils had five scholarships to give, and Todd Graham used them all to help out five dedicated players. The most notable is probably offensive lineman Chip Sarafin, who became the first openly gay active FBS football player last week, though the highlight of the video is probably defensive back Jordan Simone, who talks to his mother on the video and shares the news with her. It is an awesome, emotional moment.
The other three players who received scholarships are wide receiver Fred Gammage, linebacker Jason Franklin, and linebacker Brandon Mathews.
