Wait, Did John Calipari “Cheat” And Purposely Switch Free Throw Shooters During The Kentucky vs. Louisville Game?
College basketball coaches are always trying to outsmart each other. But at Saturday’s Battle of the Bluegrass, John Calipari decided he’d try to pull a fast one on the refs, The Big Lead is reporting.
With Kentucky trailing by eight late in the first half, Louisville’s Russ Smith fouled Kentucky’s Nerlens Noel. Noel stepped up to the line, but eventually slyly backed off, letting a better free throw shooter, Alex Poythress, take his place. The referees didn’t notice.
Poythress made one out of his two free throws, and Kentucky went on to lose the game, 80-77. But you can bet this is going to have people talking about Calipari being a “cheat”. Check out the video below:
