Video: USC vs. Georgia Tech Refs Blatantly Miss Field Goal Call, Twitter Erupts
The USC Trojans may not be the only people that don’t want to be in El Paso for the Sun Bowl. The referees seem to be mailing it in too.
Midway through the first quarter, USC kicker Andre Heidari attempted a 37-yard field goal attempt, and to everybody in the stadium and watching at home that wasn’t wearing a zebra shirt, the kick clearly sailed wide left. But for some weird reason, the Big Ten officials beneath the goal posts called it good, and Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson had to call for replay to have the correct call made.
Nothing has gone right for the Big Ten in 2012, at least nothing that could result in postseason success. A Rose Bowl upset by Wisconsin tomorrow could help.
Here’s the play:
I have now seen everything… referee gives USC a field goal that is not even remotely close to passing through the uprights. #fb

That missed field goal that the ref said was good, was really amusing #sunbowl #usc #georgiatech #badcalls
