John Calipari appeared on the Dan Patrick Show earlier this morning. The Kentucky coach covered a number of topics, including the Wildcats’ loss in the national championship game, the Los Angeles Lakers rumors, the one-and-done rule, how many players he expects to leave Kentucky early, and much more.

Some of the interview’s highlights included:
Calipari on how many players he expects Kentucky to lose this offseason:
“The good news is eight can go, and I know eight aren’t going,” said Calipari, who said he expects less than five Kentucky players will declare for the NBA Draft.
Calipari on changing the one-and-done rule to two years:
“To do what we’re doing, every year to have a new team, you can look at me right now and say, ‘You’ve aged,'” Calipari said. “It’s like you’re on this treadmill that doesn’t slow down.”
“If the rule changes to two years, I will be at Kentucky a long time,” Calipari said.
Calipari on the Los Angeles Lakers’ rumor started by Rex Chapman
“I was really surprised,” Calipari said. “That’s all part of being the coach at Kentucky. But that disappointed me. Unless the Lakers told him. …. They had a coach, we had a coach. But I accept it. I’m not mad at Rex.”
