Um, How Much Will Barry Alvarez Make To Coach The Rose Bowl?
Scoop: Wisconsin’s Athletic Director Barry Alvarez will receive $118,500 to coach the Badgers in the Rose Bowl this January, and would receive another $50,000 if they win.
Significance: Former coach Bret Bielema bolted Wisconsin for Arkansas last week, leaving the Badgers without a head man in charge for the big game.
Story: Alvarez coached the Badgers from 1990 until 2005 – it always comes in handy to have an Athletic Director who is also the winningest coach in school history. Bielema hinted last week that Alvarez would be taking on the role, but the specifics were not released until this afternoon. While it’s a hefty sum for a small amount of work, perhaps it’s karma; he lost $600,000 in Nevin Shapiro’s ponzi scheme last year.
Pretty amazing that Barry Alvarez is making 118,500 to coach one game… That’s more then people make in a year
