“I look forward to representing the hard-nosed city of Syracuse and the great state of New York as the head coach of Syracuse University,” Coach Shafer said in the SU Athletics release.
“I can’t think of a coach in America who is more deserving of having an opportunity to be a head coach,” said Syracuse Director of Athletics Dr. Daryl Gross in the same SU Athletics release.
It is nice to see them officially announce the promotion, and hopefully for SU’s sake it helps recruits stick around. It is at least a step in the right direction.
You can see the full release by SU Athletics here. Also reaction from college and professional coaches including Doug Marrone.
