Ronaiah Tuiasosopo Says He Fell “Deeply In Love” With Manti Te’o
Dr. Phil McGraw is trying to get to the bottom of the Manti Te’o ‘girlfriend’ hoax. After an interview with Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, the alleged mastermind, McGraw expressed that he believed Tuiasosopo had fallen in love with Te’o. From NBC:
“Here we have a young man that fell deeply, romantically in love,’’ McGraw told NBC’s Mike Taibbi in a segment that aired on TODAY Wednesday. “I asked him straight up, ‘Was this a romantic relationship with you?’ And he says yes. I said, ‘Are you then therefore gay?’ And he said, ‘When you put it that way, yes.’ And then he caught himself and said, ‘I am confused.’’’
This would imply that it was Tuiasosopo’s voice all along during the hours and hours of calls between the two parties. Or, it would imply that he’s covering for someone else who might have been involved. If you remember, last week the NY Post published an article with a quote from a family member who said that the voice was actually another cousin, Tino.
Tuiasosopo also said that Te’o was an innocent victim. In any case, it’s become clear at this point that Te’o was not involved with the orchestration of the hoax.
