Report: Tommy Tuberville Actually Left Recruits At Dinner To Take The Cincinnati Job
Scoop: Former Texas Tech coach and current Cincinnati coach Tommy Tuberville actually left recruits at the dinner table (and never came back) to take the job with the Bearcats, Wreckem247 reports.
Significance: This is a first. We knew Tuberville wanted out of Texas Tech, but to do it in this manner is pretty ridiculous. As The Big Lead suggests, this could be Tuberville’s last stop as a big-time coach.
Story: Devonte Danzey, an offensive lineman recruit, told Wreckem247:
“The waitress brought our food out, and we thought (Tuberville) went to the bathroom, but he never came back to dinner. Then next thing I know, the next day, he made an announcement that he’s going to Cincinnati.”
Tuberville also “skipped” a campus tour with the recruits the next morning – it was actually during the tour that news broke about the Cincinnati job.
Tuberville left recruits at a dinner table. Talk about a #classy guy.
