Report: James Southerland Ruled Academically Ineligible For Syracuse
There is some troubling news out of Syracuse this morning. The school released a statement an hour before today’s game against Villanova that three-point specialist James Southerland has been ruled ineligible. CBS Sports’ Jeff Goodman later confirmed the issue is due to academics.
Syracuse wing James Southerland is out indefinitely due to academics, source told CBSSports.

Here is the official statement from the university:
“Due to an eligibility matter, senior James Southerland will not participate in competition until further notice. Given university policy and federal student privacy laws, we are unable to provide any further details at this time.
There are few details on the reason for the suspension at this point. Syracuse fans hope this isn’t Fab Melo all over again.
