Recruit Tells Blue And Gold Illustrated His Notre Dame Visit Went “Great”, But He Never Even Showed Up
Scandal is the word of the week for Notre Dame football, but this time it wasn’t anyone affiliated with the university causing a stir. Football recruit Stanley Williams was supposed to visit Notre Dame last weekend, and he even told Blue and Gold Illustrated that “the visit went great.”
Williams verbally committed to UGA a couple years ago, but has recently shown a growing interest in schools like Alabama and Notre Dame, so it’s only natural that he scheduled a trip to meet the ND staff and check out a basketball game. And it’s great to hear that the high school running back’s visit went well.
The only issue here is that he never made the trip to Notre Dame. According to Deadspin, two Notre Dame writers called Williams out after the interview.
I’m not one to put recruits on blast – 2014 RB Stanley Williams gave quotes on #NotreDame visit. But was never there… bit.ly/VTQzkL

Here’s what else Williams had to say about his fictitious visit to Notre Dame: From Blue and Gold Illustrated:
“It was great to experience something new and different, and we had a great time at the game. I had been looking forward to it for a while, and it was great to just get out there and see a new place. I plan on getting up there a couple more times in the future.”
Even though WIlliams apologized for the “misunderstanding”, we bet Notre Dame isn’t too keen on inviting him back. It’s safe to say that they don’t need any more drama right now.
Ohhh…got it. MT @ndatrivals [Recruit] apologizes about hoax visit to ND. “It was all just a big misunderstanding and I apologize for it.”
