Photo: How Tall Is Andrew Wiggins? Kansas Star Listed At 6’8, Doesn’t Look It Standing Next To ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt
One of the most important aspects of the NBA Combine for team executives is getting the chance to measure the height of draft prospects. Adding an inch or two to a player’s height is commonplace in college basketball, so the combine is the league’s first chance to truly see how tall someone is. They do the measuring with the player wearing shoes, which seems odd, but basketball isn’t played barefoot.
Andrew Wiggins, at the behest of his agent, did not attend this past week’s combine in Chicago. He is listed on nearly every website as 6 feet 8 inches. How tall is he really, though?
Yesterday, Wiggins was on ESPN’s campus. He took the following photo with Scott Van Pelt and Ryen Russillo.

Wiggins surely doesn’t look 6 feet 8 inches. Van Pelt regularly refers to himself as a 6-foot-6 man, and the ESPN anchor appears to be at least an inch or so taller than Wiggins in this photo.
Now, Wiggins could be slouching, but Van Pelt is, too. The analysis of this photo is clearly not an exact science, but based on the image, Wiggins seems to be a couple inches shy of his listed height.
Does it matter? Probably not, but it’s interesting, nonetheless. Duke’s Jabari Parker, by comparison, is listed at 6-feet 8 inches, but he, too, skipped the combine.
