Notre Dame’s Brian Kelly Named ‘Coach Of The Year’
Scoop: After leading the Fighting Irish to a perfect regular season and a berth in the BCS National Championship Game, Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly has been named Home Depot Coach of the Year. Kelly will receive the award at the Home Depot College Football Awards on Thursday.
Significance: This is Kelly’s second time receiving the award; the first came in 2009 when he coached the Cincinnati Bearcats to a perfect regular season.
Story: As head coach of Notre Dame football, Kelly has led the Irish to a 12-0 record for the first time since 1988 and has posted a 28-10 mark in three seasons, tying him with Lou Holtz as Notre Dame’s winningest head coach in his first three years. In addition, Kelly has helped the Irish achieve three straight winning seasons for the first time since 1994-1996.
