Notre Dame Wins Big East Battle Vs DePaul In Overtime
Score: Notre Dame 79, DePaul 71
Stars: Notre Dame Jack Cooley 26 Pts, 16 Reb. DePaul Brandon Young 15 Pts, 5 Ast.
Story: This one was a war of attrition, as DePaul was looking for its first win against the Irish since 2007. Notre Dame came out firing in the first half and built a nine-point lead, but DePaul wasn’t done. With a balanced attack of six players scoring at least nine points, the Blue Demons managed to force overtime by playing excellent defense on Jerian Grant’s three-point attempt at the buzzer.
In the overtime period, Notre Dame got its offense going by pounding the rock inside to big man Jack Cooley. Cooley had a monster game and just wore down the DePaul interior.
Notre Dame has a quick turnaround playing at Syracuse on Monday, while DePaul hosts Rutgers at home on Tuesday.
