Notre Dame Rights Ship, Beats South Florida On Road

Score: Notre Dame 73, South Florida 65

Stars: Notre Dame: Jerian Grant 18 Pts, 8 Ast. Tom Knight 17 Pts, 7 Reb. South Florida: Zach LeDay 17 Pts, 4 Reb.

Story: The Fighting Irish had lost three of their last four games before heading into Saturday’s game against South Florida, and needed to win to stay above .500 in the Big East. Despite playing without co-captain Scott Martin, who is out indefinitely with a knee injury, Notre Dame played with great poise on the road. Senior Tom Knight was thrust into the starting lineup for the first time and responded wonderfully, scoring 17 points on 8-10 shooting. Jerian Grant also came up big, running the show with his eight assists and 17 points. Grant had struggled so far in Big East play, so it was good to see him get into an offensive rhythm.

Notre Dame moves to 16-4 overall and 4-3 in the Big East. The Irish return home on Wednesday to face red-hot Villanova.
