Louisville’s “C-A-R-D-S” Chant Erupts At The Kentucky Derby, Wildcats Fans Fire Back
It wouldn’t be a real sporting event in Kentucky if the fan bases of the state’s two premier schools didn’t erupt in chants for their respective programs. It appears as if Louisville was a little bit louder today, though.
The 140th Kentucky Derby takes place Saturday, with the main race scheduled to start shortly after 6 p.m. E.T. Briefly into NBC’s broadcast of the event, a Cardinals chant broke out.
I love hearing the Louisville fight song and the C-A-R-D-S Cards chant on NBC at the Derby!!!!! #L1C4

Kentucky faithful weren’t to go quietly, though.

It surely won’t be the last time today that chants like that erupt. Kentucky is, and always will be, a basketball state, even on a day highlighted by horse racing.
