Johnny Manziel Says He Plans To Tone Down “Johnny Football”

If Johnny Football isn’t the best nickname for an athlete, it’s certainly close. But Johnny Manziel, the former Texas A&M quarterback now with the Cleveland Browns, says he plans to tone down that side of his persona since he’s in the NFL.

Manziel was picked by the Browns at No. 22 Thursday evening. Cleveland jumped at the opportunity to snag the former Heisman winner, trading up into Philadelphia’s spot after Manziel started to slide.

Hours after he was picked, Manziel was spotted at a New York City nightclub, partying with a host of celebrities, including Drake and Cleveland Cavalier Kyrie Irving. There were photographs published of Manziel sipping champagne. He’s not apologizing for that, though.

Welcome to Cleveland, Johnny. Is Johnny Cleveland an acceptable nickname now that Johnny Football is soon-to-be done with?
