Irish Win Ninth Straight, Experiment With Lineup
Score: No. 22 Notre Dame 85, Kennesaw State 57
Stars: Notre Dame: Jack Cooley 14 Pts, 13 Reb. Eric Atkins 9 Pts, 13 Ast.
Story: For the second straight season, Notre Dame has rolled off a nine-game winning streak. The Irish set the tone early against the Owls with a barrage of threes in the first half, and then cruised with an extremely balanced scoring attack. Several surprises this game included usual-starter Jerian Grant coming in off the bench (no injuries or anything) and freshman Zach Auguste receiving his largest number of minutes to date. Additionally, Mike Brey was experimenting with some new lineups, playing small-ball (Atkins, Grant, Connaughton, Biedschied, Martin) and with the most length possible (Atkins, Grant, Biedscheid, Sherman, Auguste).
How’s this for balance? Eight guys for #NotreDame have scored at least three points, with nobody having more than 10. Irish lead 57-41.
