Cotton Bowl Recap: Johnny Football Accounts For Over 500 Yards, 4 Scores, 1 Huge Win
Score: No. 9 Texas A&M 41, No. 11 Oklahoma 13
Star(s): Texas A&M: Johnny Manziel 22/34, 287 Yds, 2 TD, 1 INT, 17 Car, 229 Yds, 2 TD
Story: Johnny Football. The man accounted for 516 total yards and four touchdowns, further cementing his ridiculous 2012-2013 season in college football lore. Oklahoma had trouble containing him the entire night, routinely giving up 10 to 15 yards per run up the middle to the Heisman Trophy winner. While the Sooners were able to hang around in the first half, it was all Texas A&M in the second half, literally. A 14-13 score ballooned to a 41-13 score, as the Aggies won the Cotton Bowl comfortably.
Ben Malena and Trey Williams chipped in with touchdowns for Texas A&M in the second half. Landry Jones, Oklahoma’s star quarterback, completed 35-of-48 passes for 278 yards, one touchdown and one interception. In the end though, the Sooners just didn’t have the firepower to compete with Mr. Manziel.
As always, here are some reactions:
