Alabama Crushes Notre Dame 42-14, This Fan Video Sums It All Up
Score: Alabama 42, Notre Dame 14
Star(s): Alabama: A.J. McCarron 20/28, 264 Yds, 4 TD, Eddie Lacy 20 Car, 140 Yds.
Story: Simply put, this was embarrassing for the Irish. From the opening drive, Alabama controlled the game up front and made big play after big play. Eddie Lacy started the game off with a 20-yard touchdown run, and after a questionable ruling on a punt return, Alabama scored again on its next drive to take a 14-0 lead.
Early in the second quarter, Alabama scored another touchdown, this time on a 1-yard pass from A.J. McCarron to T.J. Yeldon. And as time ran down right before the half, the Crimson Tide again scored a touchdown on a 11-yard pass from McCarron to Lacy.
Alabama struck first in the third quarter on a 34-yard pass from McCarron to Cooper, and the rout was on. Notre Dame scored two touchdowns in the second half, but it was nowhere near enough to make the game competitive. Alabama was not tested en route to its third BCS National Championship in four years.
Notre Dame didn’t tackle, didn’t make plays, and suffered a few tough calls by the officials. The combination led to an absolute blowout. Announcer Brent Musburger focused more on McCarron’s girlfriend than anything to do with the game.
