Report: Former Notre Dame QB Everett Golson Likely To Work With Renowned QB Coach George Whitfield Jr.
It has been nearly eight weeks since Everett was removed from the University of Notre Dame for “poor academic judgment,” but we have yet to learn a great deal about what he will be doing or where he will be going this fall as he serves a semester suspension from the school.
However, we did get a little bit of information today — he is considering working with renowned quarterbacks coach George Whitfield, Jr. later this year.
Whitfield appeared on the radio show FiveWideSports Live this afternoon to talk about Johnny Manziel, Malik Zaire, and Golson. Here is audio of the whole show — Whitfield begins to talk about Golson around the 79-minute mark:
Whitfield said that he has met with Golson, and indicated that there is “a good chance” and a “real possibility” that the two meet up to work together in San Diego this fall. This would give Golson an opportunity to stay sharp on the football field even in his semester away from Notre Dame.
This shouldn’t really come as a huge surprise, considering ESPN’s Joe Schad hinted last month that it may happen:
QB coach George Whitfield plans to work w Johnny Manziel this week in Texas; good chance w Everett Golson sometime this summer

Whitfield has worked with some serious quarterbacks in the past, including Ben Roethlisberger, Andrew Luck, and Cam Newton. He also had Johnny Manziel throwing passes while blindfolded earlier this summer. This could be a very big move for young signal-caller.
