Photos: Goodbye, Grass, Notre Dame’s Natural Football Field Getting Removed Today

For the first time in the history of Notre Dame football, the Fighting Irish will be playing their home games in South Bend, Ind. on a turf surface. The decision to switch Notre Dame Stadium from a natural grass field to a synthetic tundra was made a few months ago. 

Today, the transition begins, as the grass field begins to get removed.
