Story: Coming off of a close home loss to the UConn Huskies, Notre Dame ventured into Madison Square Garden, which has been a nightmare location for the Irish over the past few seasons. Notre Dame got off to a hot start led by guard Eric Atkins, but St. John’s weathered the storm with tough defense and relentless energy. The Johnnies built a 12-point lead in the second half but had to pull it out late in a game that was tied with less than four minutes to play.

Notre Dame drops to 14-3 overall and 2-2 in the Big East. The Irish return home on Saturday to face Rutgers.
