MSU’s Mark Dantonio Goes Off About Pass Interference Calls vs. Notre Dame
As expected, today’s Notre Dame-Michigan State game was a slugfest, in which the Fighting Irish outlasted the Spartans 17-13 in South Bend. After the game, Mark Dantonio was predictably unhappy, and when prodded by the media, took the bait and went off against the reffing in the game:
Q: Ever had that many PI calls? “In 30+ years, no. Never. I guess that’s the way we should stop talking about it right there.” – Dantonio

In reference to another questions, Dantonio stumbles in saying that hindsight’s 20/20, adds: “How about 50/50, like PI calls?”

To be fair, there were a lot of pass interference calls in the game — the Spartans were flagged for defensive pass interference on four occasions, and had a lesser defensive holding penalty once as well. I’m sure we’ll hear more of Dantonio’s thoughts in the coming few days.
