Father Of Notre Dame WR Involved In Academic Scandal Tells Fighting Irish Athletes To ‘Never Use The University Email System’
The father of one of the Notre Dame football players involved in the university’s academic scandal is speaking out on his son’s behalf.
Yesterday, Notre Dame announced that it is investigating a potential “academic dishonesty” situation. Four current members of the Fighting Irish football program–KeiVarae Russell, Ishaq Williams, DaVaris Daniels and Kendall Moore–are at the center of the investigation. The foursome is being held out of practice and team activities until the scandal is resolved.
Today, Phillip Daniels, a 15-year NFL veteran and the father of Notre Dame wide receiver DaVaris Daniels, hinted that is son is innocent.
Message to athletes: Never use the university email system even if you are doing things the right way! Don’t be judged on incomplete facts!!

Phillip Daniels seems to be implying that the university is using emails sent and/or received by his son against him. Since the university’s email system is run by the school, they presumably have legal access to each of their students’ accounts.
According to a report by CBS Sports, DaVaris Daniels told the university that he “writes his own papers.”
Notre Dame opens its season Aug. 30 against Rice.
